    Hammock hanging poll

Working on a college project. Wanted to get some data from hammock users!

    1. If there were a product on the market that allowed a hammock to be completely tree-free and were also backpack-able, would you be interested in it?

    2. What has been the most frequent limiting factor to your hammock use:

    A. lack of trees

    B. tree spacing

    C. hammock to tree ratio (too many hammocks, not enough trees in proximity)

This is completely academic in nature, but if any manufacturers would like to take the idea and run with it, please do!!

    Thanks!

Quite a few people have tried, but so far I haven't seen anything that would work for a backpacker. Have considered trying to use my hiking poles, but they just can't handle the weight. But good luck, maybe there's an idea out there no one has tried.

    1. Yes

    2. A (in that I have to travel about 2 hours to get to the nearest state park with trees).

What kind of college project? Sounds more like just plain market research.

Most limiting factor for hammock hanging...lack of time to get out in the woods.

Hey Shug.I've seen something comparable but with way fewer guy lines. It was aluminum pole sections(3x18") that used hitch pins to keep the poles connected. The poles had one of those walking cane wide pivoting foot. Each pole had three guy wires(paracord) and those 12 inch Y shaped solid aluminum stakes.Looked trick but would be a few extra pounds when packing, plus the 18 inch length of the poles.

Rgray107918,I am interested in something lite that can pack into a tool tube on my moto.So 12 inches max length and lite as possible.I was thinking something folding with an angled out up right and a Vee foot that is collapsible. What ever it is,it has to support 250lbs all in.
