    Hello from Canada

Hey everyone. My name is Chris and I am very new to the idea of hammocks, but I really like the simplicity of the idea.

I am from Niagara Falls, Ontario and have used tents or just slept on the ground. I do get sore backs sometimes and I am hoping the hammack idea will help.

I am currently at cross roads with my selection on my first hammock. I don't have alot of money so I want to pick my first one and not regret it. I have ready all I can read, I have watched all I can watch. I think I know Shug personally now after watching so many of his youtube videos, and have read alot of reviews on here. I am trying to decide whether to get a HH Explorer side zip or a WBBB 1.1 double layer. I am not to handy so a DIM (Do it myself hehehe) is out of the question. I read the HH is comfortable, and some don't think so. I read the Blackbird is comfortable but hot in the summer. I read the HH material feels better, but the WBBB has a footbox and shelf. I just don't know! HH has a sale going on and he is Canadian. Can anyone just message me if they have used both in spring, summer and fall camping and which one they really prefer please?

Thanks again and I am really excited about starting my new adventures with a hammock instead of a tent or ground tarp!

    Hiya, welcome from Toronto...

I'm 6'3", 270+ and use a Hennessy Expedition with a double side-zip (I put in myself, and I really like it. I'll eventually upgrade, but it's been going strong for four years now!!!

    Welcome from Florida!
Good luck on your hammock search. If you can find a group hang, you'll be able to lay in many different hammocks.

    Hey cdnrogue,

Welcome to the Forum from Bluefin in Newfoundland.

I have a Hennessy Backpacker Ultralight. I have used it spring, summer and fall and hope to use it this winter. I had a 2QZQ zipper Mod # 4 done to it so the bug net can be stored totally open. I find it very comfortable. I use Hammock Gear topquilt and underquilt. I also have a Grand trunk I use for backyard and day hike hanging.

There are many opinions on all the different hammocks. If you can get to a group hang it may help to see different hammocks and setups.

    Hope this helps you.
    Take care,
    Bluefin

Hello and Welcome from north of TO. Both are great choices but I will admit that my WBBB gets the nod more often than my HH.
