I am posting this thought here to get an idea of what people in this area think of this before I post it in the general hammock talk section. We could do the first one before everyone else starts copying us. LOL

I have this crazy thought about DIY gear and how much I don’t know how to make. I am fairly proficient with my thread injector but its my ability to not ruin some expensive material while making what I want to make.
What I am wondering, is anyone interested in getting together once a month (or more) for a couple of hours, as a group and learning from each other about different things that we know how to make, or would love to make.
We could spend the first hour learning about how to make one piece of gear from someone that has made them in the past, for example… I can make a snake skin very easily, and I don’t need to use no-seeum bug netting. I could spend 1hr making it, talking about pros and cons, and the best way to sew it together.
Then anyone that brings their own thread injector can stick around and make it themselves or something else, or if you don’t have one, you can stay and socialize and talk about Hammocks, Gear, Camping, Thread Injectors or whatever you want.
The next meeting someone can start another project and work on it for an hour with the group. Then everyone else can work on that or start their own project, or socialize. If the project is going to take a few meetings, that is fine. It can take as long as needed; this is more of a social gathering and learning class.
We could hold the meetings at places that have lots of room and outlets to plug into.
We could all chip in to pay for the room if there is a fee and maybe get snacks as well.
Does anyone else think this might be a good idea?
