I picked up on of those Jumbo Sun Shades from Walmart today. The one with the reflective material on one side and white foam on the other. I was testing various configurations, the sun shade is 67" x 27". First I tried it in the hammock, didn't work very well. So I slipped the sun shade between my under quilt and the hammock. when I climbed in the sun shade actually shifted to my diagonal lay. I then through my top quilt on and within 10 minutes I was over heating. I think once my Winter Sock comes in that I'll be able to manage temps well bellow 20*. I'm thinking I may have to test this setup on an overnight hang next week. Now I just have to convince the wife to let me go on an over night trip. Since all you New Englander tend to get cooler temps than we do in Jersey, let me know what you think of this setup.

    Primary System
    Warbonnet Mamajamba with doors
    Dream-Hammock Winter Sock
KAQ New River Underquilt - 30*
Block-ade Auto Shade between UQ and Hammock
    KAQ Owyhee Topquilt - 30*

    Back up system
Field & Stream 20* Mummy bag (TQ) in the car
Tex Sport 50* Fleece sleeping bag - Planning on slipping this between the hammock and underquilt for an additional 10* of warmth.

Between what you are planning to use, and your backups, you should be able to handle anything that Mother Nature throws at us for the hang. And if you should need it, many of us are bringing backups to help out anyone who feels they need more insulation.

Good enough, still going to try and convince the wife to let me go camping this weekend though.

I suggest trying to figure out a way to double up the quilts & bags, as a precaution.

So can the Owyhee be suspended along with the New River? And can the sleeping bags be nested inside each other?

For a long time, I would nest a 15 deg F down bag inside a roomier 15 deg F syn bag with excellent results.

It is called NeoTreksGPS for iPhone. I bought it when it was something else so I don't know what it costs now. It is a great app.
