The cars can not be parked at the site though not to far off. However there is a spot where you can pull up and off load then have to move vehicle.

***If any of you have snowshoes bring them up. There will plenty of spots and hiking to be done.***

*** I haven't heard the latest report for the depth of ice so we will see on that. The snow might be too much of insulation to let it thicken up. I will let you know as soon as I know.***

I finished packing tonight. Nicky asked if I was moving out I have 2 backpacks, my bushcraft daypack, snowshoes, and some extra gear for others, just in case. Will pick up food Friday, as its quicker that way.

Fred, it will be good to see you, I am planning on being there before 2, if you need help I would be happy to help carry your gear. Drive safe, hope you have a vehicle other than the bike.

Don't know if this counts or not, but I just spent my first night out in the hammock! It was on the porch from my turtledog stand. Made some mods to the system since my spindrift won't be here in time, and wanted to try it out before I went to the hang. Canvas cover with tarp clips and whoopies (bungee was not strong enough). Reflectix, ccf pad, reflective tarp undercover, and 3 bags (40*, escape bivy, 40*) 2 hot water bottles...1 on the femoral artery and the other on my kidneys (personal comfort spot). I was wearing....sweat pants, sweat shirt, sweat shirt hoodie with hood up, boot socks, light gloves. Cold spot....just my nose. Don't know how cold it got because my thermometer just showed LO. Phone showed -6*. House therm shows -4*. Comfort level was not great...too many bags and my feet felt trapped. Going to get a 0* today or tomorrow.
Sorry for the longwinded ramble....I'm just excited about the hang! See you all Sat!

I'm so excited! And so many questions (bare with me, first hang ). I practiced outside tuesday night in the cold with wind and was Ok, but have a few kinks to work out.

Does anyone have triangle thingies I could try out or buy or figure out how to make? I'm going to try to make some sort of a sock thing today, but as long as there is no rain and not too much wind I'll be fine even if I can't manage to make one I think.

Unfortunately I'll be on my own for food ( stupid diet, but I'm down 27 lbs and feel great, so I've got that going for me which is nice) .

Anyone have tricks for warming up water for hot water bottles? I was going to bring a couple of 2 liter soda bottles for that. a kettle is probably the best way to do it.

I have 500ft of amsteel if anyone wants to make something.

What do people do for camp chairs when it is so cold?

With your amsteel it will be easy to make some DIY triangle thingies. As for hit water, nalgenes are better than soda bottles, but they will work. You just have to be careful the water is not too hot for your bottles.
