    under Q

    hey guys i just got two sleeping bags for $10 each at a place called super cheap auto and much much more any how these are rated 0 to 5 deg comfort rating and i was going to cut one up and use it for an under Q and use the other as a top Q would this work or not? thanks in advance . Jeff

    Should work fine. Are they synthetic fill or down? (synthetic pretty much means you can go after it with abandon- the down means you'd have to be a bit careful to avoid a down blizzard)

    How heavy are they? You might be able to cut them both up for quilts to save a bit of weight.

    But bottom line: will work.

    (For our american etc friends, I think kiwi is talking about Centigrade ratings, not Farenheit. 0-5 C is 31-42 F. )

    they are microfibre insulation and it don't say what weight sorry. thanks for the help titanium_hiker

    Do you have a scale at home? How small are they when stuffed? Do you want to use these for car camping, boating, hiking/tramping or...?

    i want to use em for camping hunting etc etc and oh yes i have a scale somewhere if i can find it i will weigh them and get back to ya done it it is 57.8oz

    that for the both of them together, or each one? Tad on the heavy side, see if you can cut them a bit more to size when you make your UQ and top quilt.

    Good stuff though, sounds like you're good to go. Check out the DIY forum, lots of stuff on converting sleeping bags.
