That wouldn't be something I'd pack.I could see it going car camping for an extend time.

Sorry,I meant to multi quote but messed that up.

Look at the design and imagine all the materials to be of the lightest and strongest. You can see the the tarp is attached behind the guy in some fashion. You can see the construction is such that you can completely close it up like a tent. Take it car camping. Someone out there has to make a lightweight version for me to purchase.

This could be a revolutionary design. Make it work. Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained.

Usually when I car camp I'm within 50 yards of my vehicle.that usually when the fam is taggin along. When I used to camp by myself, forget it.I could be 20+ miles away from my car.I think 27 miles is the most I have been away from my car.

I feel compelled to speak up:

This thread the OP was talking about was not this bridge hammock tent pictured above. It was a "cheap" blue material he used for his mock, and there was a section on both sides of center that housed a stretchy area of fabric so all users can lay centerline. Its a great idea, and I look forward to the results.

I was hoping it would get the op to come on in and do some talking.

Have you ever seen the old black and white silent movies, where its the first flight of some type of crazy new airplane design? (it usually doesnt fly at all, or ends up falling apart when it trys to take off--it never ends well!) Like a friend of mine at work once said "maybe you should try it out first before you call the media!" Anyway, the origional post kind of reminded me of that!
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

    Yep, I agree.
One of the ways we find out what works is to find out what doesn't work.
I fall on my butt a lot, but I try to do most of the falling in the workshop where folks can't see.
