Suspension for Grand Trunk 2 person?

A friend and I were in my Grand Trunk a few weeks back and ended up breaking the default suspension. Pretty sure the failure was caused by my knot, it looked like someone had sliced it with a knife.

Right now, I have a standard JacksRBetter whoopie/suspension on this hammock (whoopies, webbing, dutch clips). This rated to 500lbs (I believe). Combined our weight is less than 400 but I'm still not comfortable with with two people climbing into it.

This hammock is being used mainly as a day lounger during car camping and also on short day hikes. Am I being overly cautious or should I go with a stronger suspension? I'm thinking just some pull straps from Wal-Mart and a stronger 'dog bone' whoopie.

You should be fine provided that you are at the proper 30o hang. Amsteel is rated to 730kgs

Thanks Gordan! I was thinking the same. Just paranoid from hitting the ground twice. :-)

BTW, remember, keep a safe distance from the face crabs!
