    Red face Velcro Doors

Hello! I was wondering what was the easiest way for me to be able to close the doors completely on my WL Oldman Winter tarp. I was thinking something like this: http://www.staples.com/VELCRO-Brand-...product_613240

Or some people are saying Omni tape is better.

I want something I can tape on unless sewing is really that much better.

    Thanks!

Adhesives really don't work all that well on fabrics, and especially so where Velcro is in play.

You can use shock cord to tie each door to the opposite side corner stake, and let the doors overlap slightly. You don't want to close a tarp up too much...they need a way to vent off warm, moist air.

    Especially on silnylon

Yep...an overlap will do the trick and be easy to enter/exit. You will tire quickly of fiddling with velcro on the doors.

+1 on the Velcro, but I'd place a piece of grosgrain on the bottom of both doors to tie, Velcro can be easily pulled apart by tarp tension.

I haven't had much of a problem with the velcro pulling apart, but I considered putting a plastic snap at the bottom to keep it from happening. Honestly, it just hasn't been enough of a problem to warrant it yet.
For the OP, as far as sewing this was an easy part of the tarp project. Straight stiches all the way up on an end (instead of in the middle) of the tarp. I don't think you will be happy with adhesive velcro...at some point the pull of the velcro will overcome the pull of the adhesive, especially with the wind, moisture, and temp differences these things get exposed to. Last thing I want in a rainstorm is my doors coming open!

I will try out the staking of the tarp to opposite corners. Not really a fan of staking stuff down as my dog likes to weave through them like an agility course minus the coordination

Will get someone I know to sew on some Velcro and see how that goes. Worst case I just remove it/cover it up. Thanks for all the suggestions guys!

Shug - did you sew or adhere your velcro for your doors? If you used adhesive, how is it holding up? If there is some adhesive velcro out there that performs well, it would certainly be easier than sewing!
