    Tarp and Space Blanket Unite?

Okay, a couple of friends and I do some backpacking/camping (all three different hammocks). We hang in a triangular shape with the fire in the center. Because of this we will often hang our tarps on the backside (outside) of the triangle with the bottoms as close to the ground as possible with the tops angled inward (Lean-To Style). It not only protects from rain, it helps keep some of the heat from the fire in the area.
I am considering a way to adhere a space blanket to the inside of the tarp in order to reflect more of the heat from the fire. I hear rumor that REI sells such tarps, but I would imagine that it'd be cheaper/easier to DIY.
I wonder if anyone here has done so, and what they use as an adhesive. My initial thought is just some 3M adhesive spray, but I don't know yet if the chemical will react to the space blanket in a negative way. I have read and searched some on the DIY portion of the forum and haven't really seen anything on this.
Any ideas from you amazingly bright and learned hangers?

One of the outdoor supply companies sells a reflective ripstop that would be lighter than what you would get with a space blanket glued to a tarp. If you are dead set on it though, go to your local fabric store and look at the glues they sell there. That should help. Hopefully it works out for you, but I highly recommend the reflective ripstop...

The Grip Clips look very cool SYB, thank you!

FISH: I didn't realize there was reflective ripstop. I am looking to save weight. My wife, however, is looking for me to save money. :-) Therein lies the dilemma. I am not deadset on the tarp/space; I'm actually open to ideas, which is why i posted here to the GURU's. Thank you!

Not sure what kind of tarp you have, but adhesive should work. You could also use duct tape. But i like the grip clips idea best as you can leave the space blanket off or at home if it is not needed.

3m makes double sided sticky tape that would do wonders for this job. a strip around the outside edges and a big X in the center should be pleanty and it would hardly add weight like glue.

the tarp is just a generic nothing special tarp purchased from a local harbor freight last summer. It has a few miles on it, but holds up quite well.

I hadn't considered that the glue would add that much weight; but I guess I can see the point. The double stick tape would work i'm sure. I was only considering a permantent marriage of the two. (ha! "Permanent Marriage"...that's rare these days!)

What is the reflective material made of,aluminum foil or mylar?Mylar can be stitched and a few strategically placed stitches would work.People have been using outdoor carpet tape for years to make poly tarp sails for small boats. It's cheap and can be purchased at most big box home improvement stores. If it can stand up to poly tarp flapping in 20 to 30 knot winds,it should hold up to being in a tarp.
Nothing to see here. Keep moving.
