    Hammock Camping for non hikers

Anyone use their hammock for another sport other than hiking (e.g. bicycle touring, canoing, kayaking, etc)?

There was a thread about trail-biking with a hammock not too long ago. I also know that at least Neo (maybe others) uses his hammock for canoe/kayak trips. I'll be using mine whenever I'm camping, but I don't do that much other than backpacking and an occasional canoe trip at this point.

I have used mine on a couple canoe trips. Basically the same as hiking. My dad was using a 5 lbs cheap bag along with my JRB nest and a ccp in my HH, while I was using my normal bag and a ccp in my DIY hammock.

What do you have in mind?

I keep my Byer Amazona in my truck at most times. I have been known to hang in parks or anywhere else I need to relax for a moment.

That's a good emergency planning also. A sleep system ready to go at all times. That way if some big hurricane or other natural disaster comes you won't have to wait on the government to set up tent city. Self responsibility is the way to go.

I use mine on river rafting trips and usually bring an extra one for the little kids to play and hang out in. They love it.

my gear stays packed ...all i do is add for cooler temps or subtract for warmer..i would guess that 7 out of ten of my trips are canoe trips..i just enjoy the pace and my feet get to rest..i will drag my silk hammock out for luch breaks sometimes or for a nap during a family gathering ect..and it is with me anytime i go for a woods walk.. bascially i have a hammock handy most of the time..
