What should I be telling her?

That your hiking is a healthy outdoor pursuit, and the hammocks are a means to the end. (No mention of anything she should legitimately criticize.)

Okay, I did pass a kidney stone on the Appalachian Trail this year, but that didn't have much to do with my mileage.

OK, seriously, if you've passed a kidney stone on the AT, you get to do whatever you want, when you want.

I think that you should go out and hang to calm down. . . even if your calm a good night hanging in nature will make anyone feel better.

But then my wife encourages me to do the goofy hammocking thing, as she knows it's a way to get me out doors... wait a minute... she gets rid of me that way... Hmmm....
