1 tree and some wood as an anchor point.

Wow. I can't believe I was able to get this to work (i doubt my capabilities sometimes)
This setup is simply so I can temporarily setup in my backyard since I don't have trees close enough...now I can test gear, knots, etc. more easily.

(that's my wife in my hammock for her first time ever...and proceeded to fall asleep for about 2 hours. I said did you like it..."duh, yeah").

thanks for the ideas in the forums!

Nice! Did something similar myself, but made a turtle lady stand last night to get out from under the trees and have a portable stand.

I did the exact same thing, described it to someone a while ago... don't remember which thread though, lol.

Only difference is I made it collapsible by using rope at the bottom instead of another 2x4.

I've used that technique more than once while traveling and car camping. I can usually find at least one tree. I then go up to the spreader bars and then down to the tow hitch on my Honda Element. It's very versatile.

Just don't forget to unhook it prior to going out for breakfast in the morning.

yea, I was struggling with the setup but the key for me was replacing the 550 cord with non-stretching cord and also going with a ridgeline.

I also wish I knew about hammocking those many years ago when I planted those trees!! I would've planted at least 3 trees 15 feet apart
