Thanks, it's been tested on the stand everyday since it was put together but I have to get out between some trees for a real test...will post pics when that happens, soon I hope.

Extra recliner and less closet space used. Sweet.

I couldn’t resist the opportunity to show-off the "Gear Closet"...now that I officially have one...just bought the house and the room in the background is my new "Man Cave"

Ut-Oh….I just got my thought process back from “Walk-about” over the foot rest…it’s wondered off again! Are you thinking “optional insert” like a leaf in a dining room table?

I love the term “Hammockologist” by the way, there should be a diploma for that…wait…I’m fairly acquainted with Photoshop, there will a diploma for that!
Yes, yes, yes I keep staring at the pictures of your beautiful stand, and also see the stand being able to slide out down where the bottom is (like the collapsing stands, yet different). You could slide out the bottom, fold down the shorter section for the seat (which would help reinforce the bottom after it's been slid out) and fold up and/or add in an additional long piece for a full size hammock. I see it, I really do. You wouldn't have the angle of the two end pieces that are suggested, so there would need to be a stabilizing bar up top to hang off of, but that's really minor compared to the rest being able to convert from seat to bed.

I'm not sure I can imagine what to do with the stabilizing bar right now as to fold down or being optional, because I can't get past what I see with the beginning. Why don't you make that part up, take a bunch of pictures for me to stare at, and I go from there

Heck, I'd put that in my living room

If you make the foot rest support post assembly easily removable, you could take two of these stands and spread them out a little to make a full length hammock stand.

    Cheers

Very cool. I think i will have to try this. It def will not be as pretty as yours. Thanks for posting the instructions. Any ETA on the stand instructions? And how about adding a "table" to the "middle" similar to the footrest? Then i could use it as an office chair too

Thanks! DIY projects should always be “Function before Fashion” (I usually get this rule Bass-ackward ) If the end result is comfortable to sit in for long periods or you fall asleep in it…plus…you don’t hit the ground while testing then congrats on a successful DIY! Aesthetics on the prototype were a factor because Mrs[o] imposed “standards” if I wanted to keep the stand in the house. Problem is, the chair is too comfortable...now I cant get the family out of it to get it out of the house for a proper "Between trees" gear test. (I swear, Rod Serling narrates my Life??)

I have a “To-Do” list of Accessories, Laptop/Tablet table is on it but I’m currently making another Snow Beast UQ, I will be switching back to the list soon. As for an ETA on the "Stand Plans", I will work on it this weekend and should have them posted by Sunday afternoon.
