Cool. A little heavy but the price is nice. If everything worked right it would be a perfect setup. Meaning if the hammock was comfy, the tent was sturdy, and the fly provided proper coverage. I don't like going to ground because of the lack of a free standing shelter, which this is it looks like.

Wow, they really dropped the price. I saw one setup in a local EMS back in the spring. Cool concept but seeing it up close I bet it is heavier than the listed weight.

edit: not exactly bungees. Sportsmanguide site used a somewhat incorrect term I think.

Check the 2nd link. They don't say anything about them being bungees.

Assuming ventilation/condensation isn't a problem, the biggest downside I see to the EMS hammock's concept is no dry space to cook, get dressed, etc. I thought for a long time on how to get a waterproof/breathable hammock sock that's complete enough to be used w/o a tarp in a storm. I guess it's possible but in the end I decided that I don't WANT to camp w/o a tarp if it's storming. And a good tarp isn't heavier than a hammock sock anyway, and it's much more versatile. Plus it's hard to wear a hammock sock like a Superman cape.

No, but you can wear it and look like a giant grub worm. Not as spectacular, but the world does need a heroic worm. Don't discriminate.
