    A belated hello

Hello everyone! I’ve been lurking on the board for about a year now, and a member for about 3 months without a single post. I was reading through the posts a couple days ago, as I do almost every day, when I came across one talking about needing 50 posts to be able to sell something on the forum. Although I have no intention of selling anything (don’t tell my wife but I’m still in the acquisition phase of my hanging career) it did make me realize I was taking advantage of a great resource without offering anything in return.

Since following the board I have purchased a hammock and tarp, and spend half a dozen nights hanging. One of those nights was during a family camping trip where the wife mumbled something about being crazy as she went into the pop-up camper and I climbed into the hammock. Of course its possible the basis of her diagnosis was not made solely on the fact that I was going to be spending the night in the hammock when there was a perfectly fine bed not 20 feet away.

Anyway, I really enjoy spending time on the forum and have learned a great deal from the many questions and responses. I’m not sure how much I will be able to contribute in the future, but will continue to “hang out” in the shadows.

Welcome from the Jersey Shore. The only way you'll know if you have anything to contribute is to try. I think every HF member who researches their early posts on the forums would cringe at the idiotic questions and comments they made. Noobs keep it fresh; re-examining things that others have taken for granted.

Feel free to make a fool out of yourself asking stupid questions and posting stupid ideas. One day you'll be an old pro.

Welcome! Glad to see you posting. Don't discount your experience and think it's not worth sharing. You never know who is going to benefit by you sharing your adventures in hanging. This great site is full of folks who were just like you. Start off slow with what you like and build from there. You'll be very surprised what you will learn and want to share.

    Keep hangin'

So I am not alone in the other half thinking I am crazy for hanging when there is a perfectly good bed in the pop-up a few feet away...oh well, now I have a second hammock for the grandkids and a third hammock on the way!! Welcome to the habit!!

Heck no! Hubby got me a nice pop-up sitting in the driveway to be redone....a year ago I'm not real sure what I want to do it, as I certainly don't want to sleep in it. Too busy trying to figure a way to hang 4 hammocks off of it before I spend the time redoing it. Seems like a waste to just haul around a closet/changing room/kitchen. I think all of that can be done in a super small tear drop..minus the bed area.

ne_hanger, welcome to the forums from Ohio
