Yeah saw that in the paper this am. Was just up there last weekend camping. Never saw any bears. Plenty of signs though that they were around. Not going til next week so hopefully things will clear by then. If not I'll have to adjust mileage so as to miss camping in that area.

There are bears, wiley coyotes, mischievous coons and Blair witches in the woods. Don't like 'em? Stay in the mall, and out of the wilderness.
And, y'all that do choose to get out there in it...please be quiet.
    Thank you!

Agreed and agreed. I've spent a lot of time in the woods and never been scared of animal encounters. Just need to know the basics of animal behavior and enjoy the quiet

There's a water pipe just a few hundred feet down the Ivestor Gap Trail where it runs into the parking lot at Black Balsam Knob.
"The Road goes ever on and on,
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can.
    Pursuing it with eager feet
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say."

Well unless there is some unforeseen issue, I'll be leaving in the morning for the art. Plan to hike straight through meeting my son and wife at camp Daniel Boone by Saturday morning. Talked to the ranger at the district office this morning and camping is still closed in the wilderness area, but should be close enough to camp daniel Boone by Friday night that I'll be just outside of that area. See you on the other side and hope to have a trip report sometime next week.

I'm BACK! Well unfortunately I had to rearrange my plans a bit due to the closure of camping in the wilderness area. Upon further investigation I realized that there would have been noway around camping Friday night in the closed area, and didn't think trouncing into my sons webelos camp weekend would be a good example to him and the other scouts Still put in some pretty decent miles and will post a trip report sometime tomorrow. Thanks for all the help and can't wait to eventually thru hike the art
