    New from Hamilton, Ontario

Hello everyone, I've only just started to explore this forum. I've never tried hammock camping, and I'm a little overwhelmed by all of the choices. Looks like there's plenty of info here to start with - and a lot of activity in Ontario.

Looks like you got the HH Explorer Delux Zip? I've been looking at the same one at MEC. Problem is, I don't want to jump in and spend tons of money (hammock, tarp, suspension, underquilt, etc., etc.) without knowing a bit more about my options.

I totally agree, I have spent what seem forever reading and watching. Shingaling-watch some of Shugs videos. I found him very informative, along with alot of the articles on here! good luck!

Welcome! many of us go to Valens conservation area in the winter in your neck of the woods. You're lucky you're so close and it would be a good place for you to meet people and see different set ups. Keep an eye out in the trip planning forum for EGL (Eastern Great Lakes). You can read up on some trip reports from hangs we've had at Valens.

Bubba is correct that Valens is a pretty convenient location for hammock hanging. Since you're so close in Hamilton, it would be a great place to get some experience hanging in colder temperatures and meet other area hangers.

    Cheers
