    Hello from a newbie hanger!

    Hi All,

I have been using this site for researching hammocks for a good part of the summer. My plan was to wait until next year to go hammock but after my last backpack trip, I decided to just go for it, since I have one last trip planned this fall. The final straw was with my last trip when I woke up often throughout the night with numb hand, arm, pain in hips, etc. All of this on a 3/4 length prolite pad on a bed of soft pine needles. Most of the other tent campers also did not sleep well.

So I took the plunge and bought a WBBB, MJ camo and Yeti UQ. Brandon was super responsive and super fast getting it on its way to me. Just ordered the tarp today but the hammock and yeti are coming tomorrow. This was a financial leap of faith for me that i am sure will pay off in sleeping comfort and ease of site selection, and other ways too i am sure. I have a couple of weeks to practice setting up and learning the finer points of knot tying and all the other little devices to allow for easy setup and configurations.!! It's a camping nerd's paradise!

That's how I decided to take the plunge too. Although, I'm newer than you and still waiting for my goodies to arrive. Hope you are learning as much as I am and spending less than I am! I've been bitten hard by all the "cool stuff" and my wallet has gotten awfully light the past few weeks!

Welcome to the forums! There are many types of suspensions to go with but I would recommend one that doesn't use knots. Whoopie Slings, Dutch Clips, etc. It's one of the best upgrades I made

Thanks for the welcome! I added a bit of detail about what I ordered in my bio section. @Tru, yea did spend more than I wanted to but fortunately I filed my taxes late and got a refund. :-) I am a bit compulsive about this stuff like I can see a lot of people in this forum are, but that's not a bad thing in my mind (which is why I don't have anything in the bank).. @Xristos, yes i got the adj webbing, but feel like I need to learn all those slip knots ts, dutch dealios and all to get the tarp up, taut and tunable..
