Before I clicked on the link I thought it was going to be about how he found a lemon tree out while hiking, boy was I wrong

    Nice job salvaging the mistake.

thanks folks! It's hard to describe the feeling I had when I first saw that hole. Sort of like I've felt with other self-inflicted accidents...did I ever tell you about the time I ran the thread injector through a fingertip? really...

So this could be a useful idea borne out of a bad situation. I like the utility of an attached stuff sack best of all I think.

Thanks Grizz. I took a guess and had the poles in my cart, but appreciate the confirmation.

    Grizz,
Very nice. Appreciate the clear detailed step by step on the video.

As you note, the biggest weight saver is the use of the hiking poles as spreaders. One outside the box idea I have had (actually I don't remember ever being in the box) is to reorient the hammock 90 degrees and instead of using spreader bars to hold it open, use lines in tension to hold it closed. The lines would replace the spreader bars. Since you would be 90 degrees from the normal hang, the suspension lines would run from each side to the trees. That is, the shoulder and foot on the left to one tree and the shoulder and foot on the right to the other tree.

I know you did some work along this line staking out the sides of one of your early bridge hammocks with somewhat limited success. But if I recall the primary suspension was still head and foot rather than left and right. This whole idea is something like what happens when you sit in a gathered end hammock.

Has anyone tried this with a bridge. I will admit I haven't been keeping up like I should.

    Hi Mark!
good to see you 'round here again. I wonder if the idea you've got is what Exped has done. Somewhere, sometime, someone on HF did a review I think.

    try sticking that in google....

I'm thinking WV had a go at this also. At least I remember who he is...

    cheers

    Hey Grizz,
About that finger - how did you modify it after the accident with the thread injector? Are you really Spiderman?

    SloBro,
I had to break out the right angle hammock recently for MAHHA because a broken rib won't let me sleep lying down. I changed the suspension so the head end is vertical, and I could sleep sitting up. (Grizz would be proud of me.) Back to work on my workshop (where I broke the rib), and then I'll revisit the right-angle design. It's got potential. I look forward to seeing yours.

Really nice bridge you have created. I follow all of your posts. I really like the fuzzy slippers too! (I hope that didn't sound creepy)
    Thanks for sharing.

    Hey Grizz,
Good to be 'round. Thanks for the link to the Exped hammock. Very interesting and it is a mere 24 oz heavier than yours, thus proving the superiority of my design. I will need to see if I can find anything on WV's design.
