Monk, it looks like you really have everything planned out. Those were some nice drawings and 3d rendering.

Not sure where Lubbockhammockguy is, so I'll go ahead and post the last of the underquilt pics. I left one end open so he can stuff the baffles with down. I used 3 inch baffles so it will have a max loft of about 4 inches or so. Final dimensions are 78x48 - yeah, it's a man sized underquilt! The suspension decided on is a Leighlo type. Thinking it will weigh about 29 oz or so, depending on what type and amount of down he uses. I set the baffle so he'll be good to 20 or lower with a 20% overfill - I'm guessing 10* or so. Does it get that cold in Texas?

All he has to do to finish is stuff down, sew the end shut, sew the grosgrain and run a small length of shock cord. Hope he likes it!

Working on a matching top quilt for him now.

    On to the pictures!

Lost_Biker, I've been meaning to ask what tutorial are you following for the UQ? Also what are you using to mark the material?

Hey dragon360 - my first uq was an IX uq. I made several of those (4 actually), but did"'t try a down uq till a few months ago. I really don't follow a pattern at all. I use MAD777'S differential uq spreadsheet to get the dimensions and then just put it together. I put it together as I think it should go together - sometimes I'm wrong and just start over. I'm entirely self taught on many things.

I use a Sharpy gold or silver metalic fine point to mark material - It flakes off treated material or just fades away after awhile. It stands out so I can see it clearly.

YES - here's the video I used to make it. Instead of a sliding lock, I just use a cord lock.

Lost, This friday it is getting down to around 31* lol. And thanks for updating the photos for me.

Lost has started on the 16 baffle TQ (Yes this thing is going to be massive also!). H is trying to get it completed by Thursday so he can ship it out before the Hoosier Hang.

I can't wait to receive them to attempt to stuff them with down.

Here's some more teaser pictures - 16 baffles = 300 pins! That took awhile to assemble. I'm finishing the second sheet now. I'll do a test fit and trim it down as necessary, then sew the edges. Then it's hopefully on it's way home to Texas tomorrow before I go to the Hoosier Hang.

I was wondering what the directional arrows were on the tape - now I think I understand (last photo). Are you sewing over the tape Lost_Biker?
