The info available on this forum is just great. I just got back from a trip to Hawaii (the Big Island) and I slept 3 nights in an Eno at Black Sands Beach. I experienced cold from evap cooling that my fleece liner could not make up for. So all 3 nights I ended up sleeping in my rental truck in the AM hours.

Which brought me to this forum. I already sew products for a local manufacturer so any design of hammock is well within my capabilities. My first hammock will use two spreader bars. It will be made of Sunbrella and will have sufficient length to my height with a separate area for my shoes. I expect to use spur grommets, and and 1 inch flat webbing throughout. Amsteel will be used for support lines. This hammock will carry my weight with at least a 2 1/2 margin. It simply cannot fail and that is why I won't be using ripstop nylon.

I plan on attaching ccf foam for insulation and wind resistance. Sunbrella fabric is partially able to pass vapor, I expect that sleeping in this hammock will be equal to sleeping on the ground with a pad, as far as body vapor transmission is concerned. I want to be able to sleep in any position, which is why I am making this a bridge type. Obviously, weight of materials will be greater than most other designs I have seen here.

Started my bridge type yesterday. 4 spreader bars. 2 sewn into the fabric under lower level and not removable. 2 spreader bars located at the upper ends. 18 inches deep. Sunbrella fabric. I will be lining this on bottom and sides with 1/2 inch ccf. CCF Pads will be held in place with snaps and will allow removal individually. suspension will be Amsteel and 1 inch nylon tubing. Spreader bars are 1 inch aluminum and 36 inches long.

I am not concerned with weight on this first hammock. I am trying to make the hammock lie flat and allow all sleeping positions. The generous depth is a nod to stability. The 18 inch sides are going to be easy sites for pockets for accessories. Box shape makes for easy built in bug screen. Waiting on actual hang shape before sewing in bulkheads at foot and head
