    Question Hammock Sock

It is early in the winter camping season, but the winter hammock sock is being offered by several vendors. What caught my eye was the canvas hammock winter sock. Any opinions or discussion?

Canvas sounds nice for blocking the wind, but canvas can also be heavy

Heavy - yes - very!. and only really works in temps below 10*. It blocks the wind great. Here's a video from MollyMacPack

I just finished one made from polyester fabric. Tried it for the first time last night at 40*, some wind and rain. Pretty toasty with the tarp pulled down tight and the Griz Beak on. Not a winter camper, but it's going elk hunting in the mountains pretty soon. cold up there.

The extra weight isn't an issue for us snow shoe guys that pull pulks instead of lugging packs.
