I just tie a string on one corner of the pillow and the tie the other end to the head end of the hammock. It's not going anywhere.
I keep learning and will never know enough.

I put a button hole in the corner of the pillow and tie it off.
Make the cord how ever long you want. So long as it can't hit the ground.
I'll use a blanket (wool) as a pillow, and wrap that over my head.

i use one of those exped inflatable pillows. i use a t-shirt as a cover usually. fairly small but good support. so far i haven't had any issues with it falling out.
I made one with an old T-shirt and attached a shock cord to it that goes up to the head of my hammock.

The home made hammocks I've been using have a knotty mod on all four corners, though I usually only have shock cord in two of them... I haven't had an issue with stuff falling out. I have been considering ways to keep the pillow from getting lost in the blankets every time I sit up.
I have an rei inflatable pillow, I thinking of making a "bag" that stays with the hammock tied in and then I just inflate and insert.
