Tip for buying multiple poncho liners

I just grabbed some poncho liner's off ebay for relatively cheap (vs prices I see posted here) and thought I'd share the "secret".

I intended to buy 4 poncho liners. 2 to make under quilts with and 2 for top quilts for my GF and I.

    I ended up getting 4 poncho liners for ~ $45 shipped. That's ~ $11.25 a PL.

Here's the secret: Don't look for "free shipping".

Many supplier's are selling PL's for $15-16 with free shipping, but if you look, there are other's offering PL's for $7-8 with $7-8 shipping. Seem comparable, right? Wrong! If you're buying more than 1, the shipping get's combined (and ebay calculates this automatically [just updated last week IIRC]).

For 2 PL's I think it ended up being ~$13 each. 4 for ~$11.25. 6 for ~ 10.50. etc.. I'm not sure where returns diminish, but if you need more than 1, definitely the way to save a few bucks.

I got mine from militarybase11. All four were in great shape, no tears/damage.

Be careful with some of the cheaper looking P.L. too, as many are advertised with damage.

Keep us informed on how your top and under quilts go! Are you thinking of combining some Insultex to the UQ's?

Currently just made a no-sew PLUQ. I'm working out how I want to hang it. I can get it to cover from shoulder to foot (trying to avoid a foot pad right now), but that puts the suspension lines on my head, which is annoying...

Once I get a thread injector (mother said I could have her old Singer. Only problem is it's ~1000 miles away) I plan to do a sewn PLUQ and top quilt. I haven't decided what I want to do to add insulation, if any. Still testing out the limits of my no-sew. I'm currently just using the top PL as a blanket.

I've sewn on it before, although it's been a while. I'm hoping the rust wont be too deep

Thanks for the tip. I just recieved mine for $13.33 each. Genuine USGI issue version they appear to be brand new. Way better than the $30 each price. Here is my link to Little Guy Surplus.

Not quite as good as yours But definitely good.

The same works for 3rd party sellers on Amazon. I just ordered two used ones on Amazon for $9 each. The original shipping was $5 for one but the second only cost another buck. Two PL for under $25 shipped.

This was the cheapest I could find as I am going to being doing some experimenting with them and failure is always an option.
