    PU = polyurethane...a waterproof non-breathable coating.

    I picked up 10 yards today for some summer hammocks. I couldn't pass up the price when I spotted it today -- hadn't even seen this thread.

    Found some here a few weeks ago. Made an experimental design hammock sock out of it. A little heavy, but it works after a re-design and some more fabric. Hit the top part with some Campmor silicone for a little dwr finish. It's now heavier and I'm waiting for the silicone to flash off so it doesn't kill what's left of my brains.

    Any updates on this fabric? Like/Dislike?

    Here is a snippet I found about the fabric, sounds heavy but great for weather protection (sock). Is it really a two-layer breathable goretex-like?

    Looking at ordering some from Walmart online as it seems like a pretty good deal.

    Well mine was not "WaterProof". I made a cup in some of it and put water in it, it held it til i squeezed it then it poured out of it. It may repel water but i don't know how long.

    Thanks Terry, well I got lucky and found a WalMart that actually has a fabric department and they have this in stock, gonna pick up most likely 10 yards tomorrow. $1.99/yd, I hope it meets my expectations because I can't get good ripstop around here at all.

    A poster above mentioned 1.6 oz/sy, that would be nice!

    Probably make another knotty mod hammock, and a TED sock.

    Made an 11'x58" gathered end out of this today. Seems really strong but really needs the knotty mod. Total weight with 6' whoopies, 10' adjustable 7/64 amsteel RL, and an oxford nylon stuff sack is 21.3 oz.
