Triangle Thingy's vs Loop on Ridgeline - Any difference?

I've been playing around with hanging my no-sew PLUQ under quilt lately. I have a variant of a SLS I'm developing, similar to Bearchaser's (will post details when finished). I started hanging it from the alpine butterfly loops my hammock attaches too. but wasn't getting the lay I wanted.

My next iteration was to use 2 small carabiners clipped over my ridge line, and using a length of paracord to limit how far down the line it can travel:

From what I can tell, this accomplishes something very similar to TT's. If so, I can splice a loop in my ridgeline and eliminate a lot of material from what I'm showing, and from TT's.

Thoughts? Am I missing something in my newbiness?

If you tie a prussik onto the ridgeline, you can attach one small minibiner (you don't really need two) to it and use it the same way. It'll stay put. I do this on my setup (which is not SLS though) and it works pretty well.

That would work too, and be more adjustable.

The two biner's are 1 for each end of the quilt. Sorry that wasn't really clear, was it!

This is how I hang my underquilt as well. It works well for me!

    Triangle Thingy's for netted hammocks

Prussik loops on ridgeline for no net hammocks. I have even put a non structural external ridgeline on a netted hammock to attach UQ. It is lighter than the triangle thingy's. I think the guy that thought up the triangle thingy's doesn't use them anymore

After trying out some plastic Dutch quilt hooks, I will never go back to screwing around with triangle thingies and looping shock cord over ridgelines and other such gymnastics. The quilt hooks weigh almost nothing and make your quilt setup bulletproof.

I've got my down camp vest now rigged to be VUE (vest underquilt extender) aka Shugstyle. Poof was wondering how to use hers with the DarienL...problem solved at the price of the weight of an additional zing-it line.

That is interesting. I just bought a set of quilt hooks, as well as a set of his new quilt hangers, and I can't get them to work as well as the Triangle thingys. I like a little bit of an asymmetrical hang, like Shug suggested in one of his videos, and this is really tough with just the quilt hooks. I never felt that they kept the angle vertical enough to matter anyways. After an hour of messing around with them, I went back to the triangle thingys. With the triangles, the hanging angle can be set once, and it is guaranteed to be the same every time. I felt the hooks gave different angles, depending on where you put them. I guess that is why there are so many good choices out there. Everyone is different.
