I'm in Middletown, MD (near Frederick, about 6 miles from AT). I'd be interested in going after our world thaws out a bit. I not equipped for winter (yet).

i did that about 6 years ago. it was really neat, but i still have sand in some of my gear

My wife and I camp at Edisto Beach, SC about 4-5 days a year. It's a really peaceful, non commercial place and the beach is a state park that is covered with Lager Head turtle nests. It's a beautiful spot.

IMHO, nothing beat camping and being able to hear the waves breaking on the shore while I am sleeping.
