Give a man fire and he's warm for the night.

A lashing may be in order for that application.
Or, possibly make a single loop closed with a double fisherman's knot. That will hold shock cord also.

Is it going to be a fixed line?
I used a couple halfhitches to tie the 3/4" bungee brake line to the angleiron stakes for my backyard zipline. Has been holding well...my brother (220lbs) hit close to 30 - 40 kph!!
I have it on my doors and it seems to hold with a simple overhand style and burned with a lighter.....perhap a follow tgrough figure 8?
For a knot in bungee cord? I've never had a problem with a bowline. You could do a double figure 8 as well, the kind where you tie a fig 8 knot then follow it back the way you came leaving a loop at the end. Or double the bungee and tie a fig 8. leaving a loop at the end.
Good luck,

+1 on bowline. Use a Yosemite Finish if you're worried about it coming undone. (Google will show you how)
Bowline is what I use for all my loops.

Overhand on a bite is as simple as it gets.
