    Welcome from down south. Backpacking trips with my son are some of the best memories and trips of my life. I think he may love the outdoors and nature as much as I do. But just know that some of the most memorable outings are the cold, wet ones. So after you learn the basics, don't cancel plans because of weather (except really bad weather, of course). Enjoy!

    Welcome from Denver! Congrats on starting an exciting journey. Definitely good to get experience through practice (best to do with other experienced backpackers) but don't take too long to get the kiddos out. The younger they are the easier it will be to get them used to and loving it.
