Hey guys, thanks for using that pic of my tarp setup. If you shoot over to that post and watch the video, you will see that you don't need anything special to close up those ends. I normally just find a stick and use it as a sort of toggle. As long as the ends are taunt the toggle will hold quite well. As far as hanging it higher, I tend to keep mine low to the ground for privacy and to add a tad bit more wind protection (especially when winter hanging). I like to keep my setup as minimal as possible.
