What is your favorite length, and why, for your tree huggers?
It depends upon the size of the majority of trees in the area you hike. I use 5' tree huggers. They will go around an 18" diameter tree. Not all, but most are that size or less in my areas.

8ft, 6ft & a short 3ft if i need to lengthen the other two.
If i'm heading to the forest of giants those lengths would change.....
I've hung off several small wrist sized saplings tied together at times,
because there was nothing else around. Many small trees make a large one.

Mountain views are good for the soul....& getting to them is good for my waistline.

I find that 8 footers are just about right. I can get around most any sized tree I'm likely to run into. And I carry double eye'd lengths of Amsteel in 4 and 2 feet along with a 1 foot continuous loop just in case I need extra length around the tree or the spacing is longer than my normal suspension can handle.

Like MAD said, use straps sized for your area. My normal straps are 6'. However, I ran into a problem on Cumberland Island. The oak trees were so big I needed more than twice that. I forget how I solved that problem. I think I had some dogbones I was able to daisychain.
Lately I seem to be leaning more towards 10-12' straps. I don't mind carrying a little extra weight for some added flexibility. If your trees aren't big but they're further apart longer straps are just as important.

Whatever I take, I take two different lengths. Gives me the greatest flexibility with the least weight, in my experience. Very rare that I hang from two identical circumference trees.
If I take an extra long strap, it's one I have sewn an extra loop into, so between the two straps, I have three length options.

I use 6ft generally, but keep some extra line in my bag just in case.
