    My DIY...Nothing special

I have been busy with that "work" thing so not much time to spend in the forum but I really want to say thank you to everyone who shares their DIY ideas so I could cheat on my test! I have to admit is was great fun designing and yes even using the thread injector to make a hammock, rain fly, stuff sacks, etc,. And of course the self gratification of knowing I actually created something like this is a great feeling. I know a lot of people say this, but if can do it, I am CERTAIN anyone can. I think the hardest things were making Whoopies (it got easier after making several) and finding a big enough space to measure and cut the fly.

Next it's onto a "doors for the fly, a bug net and an under quilt. But before that it seems "she" liked my setup so much that now I get to make her one! What have I done!

Here are a couple of rather crappy cell phone photos as I was packing up from a recent excursion. I know it's not the prettiest and I definitely still need to tweak a bit here and there, but believe me when I say, I had the most wonderful time hanging in the woods with my very own DIY gear. Thanks again to everyone who helped make this possible.

Nicely done and you get the benefit of hanging with gear that has a story specific to you!

What do you mean...nothing special? That's fantastic! Being an old fixed income retiree, DIY is the only way that I can have what I do now. That and the fact that I like making things

Bingo! I second the fact that we can DIY our own gear is a very special thing indeed...

I'd be proud to call that rig my own... Nothing special? Hooey! I say!

Yes, you may have had some fits, restarts, rip out a seam and re-sew, but that's perfectly normal for me, and I've been DIY'ing for 2+ years...

Someday I'll be good at this... then I'll have to find a new hobby...
