    Looking for the Right Pad

I have a warbonnet blackbird dl 1.1 and a 20* leighlo down UQ. I am very tall so the 66 inch long UQ only goes so far down my legs. I need a pad that is warm enough to match the 20* of the UQ (or better) and is still ultralight in weight. Does a pad like this exist? You can include heavier pads that have the option of modification for light weight. Basically what thickness CCF pad is going to get me down to the 20*. I sleep hot.

I cut my own Reflectix pad. I bought it at Lowes, I think it was 20" wide. I used the Reflectix tape and taped the two pcs together, then tapered them down a little narrower at the feet. The stuff is real light, and I have used it in 30 degree temps and I was really hot. Search some other threads on the stuff, I love it!

I saw a YouTube vid done by a guy who went out and bought a sunshield for the windshield of a truck. It has one side that's reflective and the other side is kind of cloth-like. I found some of the truck size ones on sale at Wally's for $2.50 apiece and grabbed them. I haven't tried them out yet but what he said in the vid seemed sensible enough.

Reflectives work great I use a WB Yeti and I have to supplement my lower half also! They also work great when sitting around camp , sit on the Reflectives you will stay pretty comfy!

I use a thermarest Z lite. Pretty cheap for the full size and I cut it down. The part I use has 4 sections and it cradles my feet and legs perfectly. And I use the other section for a seat. Very lite also.

The $7 blue pads at Walmart will probably work. In my experience the closed-cell foam pads I have with a thickness of about 1/2" work to 20F.

I searched for many hours and ended up purchasing an EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) 1/4" thick pad that is 40" wide and 80" long. I haven't tried it yet. It was shipped to me just a couple of days ago. I do like what I see though. I wanted a pad that was wide enough for my shoulders and long enough to go under my feet for the really cold weather. I figure that I can always trim the pad but the weight savings really would be minimal. I ordered the pad from the following site:

    Good luck with your search.
