Can't the skeeters bite through the WBDL ?

Can't the skeeters bite through the WBDL? I haven't had the chance to test the WBDL with the mosquitoes but the Grand Trunk Double that I used this summer (I think) was not thick enough. The mosquitoes could bite through the fabric.

Never had it happen in mine and we have some pretty good concentrations of them where I'm at.

    Cheers

Isn't the Grand Trunk Double similar to the ENO Doublenest in that it only has one layer of fabric but is marketed for "two people"? (Never mind that two bodies still seek the lowest point in suspended fabric, no matter how big that piece of fabric is...)

If so, that's the issue; mosquitoes can bite through one layer of (most) fabric. Two layers winds up with the interstices between the actual threads being offset most of the time, which prevents the little flying hypodermic needles from sucking you dry.

If I'm completely off here, I apologize; I've never seen a GTD up close.

    +1

From my understanding a mosquito can get its proboscis through one layer of cloth but not two. So if you have a double layer you're golden. With a single layer combine with some clothing or permethrin. Personally I think permethrin is a good ides regardless.

Mouses is correct on both counts. Permethrin rocks!

    Thumbs up

Correct - the GT double is not double layer but it is optimistically insinuating that it is good for two people.

Thanks for the info. I am glad to have the double layer black bird. The skeeters in Maine could be vicious.

No skeeters in my WBBB. And they have had ample opportunity to attack as I have camped next to some sloughs in the river bottoms this summer and fall.

I have double layer BB's and have never had a problem with skeeters and we have the large mean salt water skeeters here. Of course I also treat mine hammocks (and hiking clothes) with Permethrin
