    Another guy from Kansas

I guess it's about time I posted in here too. I've been lurking for probably 6 months now and have picked up some great tips and ideas. Maybe now I'll join in and throw some of my own around.

I have a Hennessy something-or-other (side zip, asym) that I hung out on my covered deck so I get to enjoy the outside whenever I feel like it and don't even have to deal with rain.

I love making things so I started with making a G4 backpack (modified with a few ideas of my own) from scratch and have moved on to a simpler 10oz Climashield underquilt so I can sleep out this winter. Add paracord bracelets, a pop-can stove, and tinkering with a few things here and there and you've got the idea. Really my interests lie in almost everything out there.

I'll be in the Smokies in a little less than a month but unfortunately won't get to test out on the AT due to time constraints. Oh well.

Thanks! I started with some plans from the BackPackingLight forums but ended up buying the pattern from Quest Outfitters so that I could just trace the first time through.

I haven't taken any pics yet but I will when I'm finished. I still have a couple of mods to finish before it's done but it's still very usable and so much lighter than anything else I've used.

I am interested in seeing some pictures of the G4 when you get a chance to post them. I am looking for a lighter pack for a longer hike next year.

Welcome to the world of hammocks and DIY.
