Does the thumb and forefinger thing work if one happens to be double jointed?😃

Rotate your "thumb and finger" angle finder 90* in either direction.

Your first photo looks close to 30* and the hang calculator should be on the mark.

So.....my assumption is that you got the hammock length from GT's "specs". That's your mistake. That measurement is usually given for the raw material before hemming, etc.

My GT UL measures ~105" so 83% of that is 87" and probably closer to what your ridgeline should be.

With all of that said, 83% is only a suggested starting point (that many hangers find to be perfect). What you are attempting to do is find the most comfortable hang and set your ridgeline for that length so it can be easily repeated.

The only thing you probably need to do is shorten the ridgeline to match your hang. I'll bet it's close to 87".

    Shug,
Thanks for the input. I have watched all of your videos at least twice. I'm glad I made my Ridgeline adjustable. I had almost decided to make one 95" for the GT UL and just do a fixed Brummel on each end. The adjustability is really nice. I overestimated the amount of Amsteel, though. I ended up being able to cut off 5 feet from the tag end and will be able to use it for continuous loops/prusiks for other stuff. I can adjust mine from approximately 7' to 10'.

Thanks, I will measure the GT UL tomorrow and see. I did shorten the ridgeline and it tightened up and I had a comfy lay. Can't wait to get my WMM.
    That picture helps.

My GT UL is 120" when one counts the loops. Those loops and the SRL both go in the carabiner. I find a comfortable hang at 96", which is 80%.

That is the first time that I have heard of counting the loops as part of the hammock for the calculation of the ridgeline. Maybe I'm crazy, but from my readings, it is calculated off of the length off the hammock itself.

He's attaching the ridgeline farther up at the end of the loop/carabiner connection instead of at the ends of the hammock body.

    Ok, that makes sense. Thanks.
