I used to go tenting and fishing like crazy...then as I got older life got in the way and all that slowly tapered off...and for the past four years I have basically done nothing but work.

Now i'm in Northern Alberta, and as far as I know there are not very many hammock campers out here...when I tell people about it they think i'm just setting myself up to be a bear pinata.

I flip back and forth between FSJ, Edmonton area and Portland, Oregon.

I am sure we know some of the same people. I think you are going to find some Hanging pals.

At one time I did a lot of backpacking, tenting and yes fishing. Then life got in the way. Kids were busy with school and other kid activities. As you know kids in smaller communities are always going to activities in other cities.

Finally the kids are on their own, I am on my own again (well sort of anyway). I have found Hanging around works great on my body. Using my tent means a very stiff body in the morning. I have a small collection of hammocks, each one is a little different.

I switched to a Kayak. How do you manage the leeche's in the lakes? They really creeped me out. I was accustomed to the clear, cold, fast moving water of the Pacific NW.

    Anyway, welcome.

I can't say I have encountered too many leaches. I mostly just try not to tip out of the canoe to manage that though

kayaks are cool, but I like the storage capacity of a Canoe.
