Howdy from the Hill Country in Texas!

I have been an avid camper and hiker for many years. Have done just mostly tent camping and a short stint of RV camping (pop-up camper) when my daughter was in middle school and high school. Now I have a DDD (L5-S1) and cannot sleep comfortably on hard surfaces. Then I discovered hammock camping and now I am getting back out there backpacking and kayak camping using a hammock.

I have an ENO Pronest Hammock, ENO Bug Net and ENO ProFly. I am going to switch out the rain fly for something that is the same size but half the weight. I am also going to replace the 'biners and other hanging hardware with all Samson Amsteel and Tree Huggers. I will also be adding an ARL as soon as I can my buddy to show me how to make one.

I have also rediscovered backpacking and am working on getting my entire pack weight down to 25 pounds for a three-day trip.

In addition, I am 5' 7" tall and weighted over 176 pounds last November. I changed my eating habits and have dropped my weight down to 142 pounds as of this morning. My ultimate goal is 140 pounds. I just need to make it through the holiday season without gaining back a bunch of weight.

I am looking forward to reading about what others do while hammocking and also helping me out with my newbe questions.

Howdy and welcome to the trees.

For a drink out of the fire hydrant of information, head a couple of hours east in November and hang with us.
