Pen Mar to Gathland State park?

Me and the wife are planning a trip for Thanksgiving; Thursday thru Sunday. Three and a half days to do 30 miles shouldn't be too much. Anyone want to give some input or advice, then please do so. Anyone want to join us, then please let us know. We are going to park a car at the park and then drive another up to Pen Mar and go SOBO.

Nice hike with easy terrain. Enjoy.

Awesome hike but a few dry spots and stretches Ive done that stretch a handful of times and its pretty easy going and def doable in three and a half days. Tomorrow Ill PM you some route info.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

    Lazy River,
Would you mind sharing the route info. I'm planning an up and back of the same route (Wash Monument to PA) mid month and curious about water availability. I'm familiar with south of Washington Monument (plenty of water) but haven't been north yet.
    Thanks,
    Jason

Silversurfer, my wife and I just did the Pen MAr to Gathland sobo for the MAHHA. if your're doing ten mile days, the ensign cowall shelter is a good first stop, with a decent stream after a road crossing. be sure to stock up there, because i dont remember water sources the second day to pine knob shelter, but we didn't stop there and hiked an extra 4ish miles to the MD backpacker campground behind the south mountain inn, whichj has hot showers and running water, not to mention beer and great food at the inn. the terrain is not bad, but does have some good rocky areas that need a keen eye for the white blazes, otherwise you'll get sidetracked. pm me if you have any other questions. have fun on your hike!!

I did this section back in May as part of a 12 Day AT hike from Harpers Ferry WV, to Duncannon, PA and found it to be a great experience you can read about it here:
