What is similar but lighter than the WBBB?

I bought a WBBB 1.7 DL two years ago as my first hammock after much research here. I was blown away by the quality and craftsmanship. However, being my first hammock I was unaware that I needed to sleep on my left side b/c of the footbox placement. I later bought a WB Traveler model which is nice and much lighter but I really miss the footbox and cant lay nearly as flat. I can sleep on my right side in the Traveler model but its not nearly as comfortable. I've actually went back to tarp and pad on the ground my last couple of outings.

I've contacted WB about a WBBB with left side footbox without the bug net but i've been informed that is not an option. I'm almost considering buying one and removing the bugnet but thats a lot of cash to drop and such a nice piece of equipment to dismantle.

What out there is similar without all the bells and whistles?

    EDIT - I weigh around 230

Have you checked out the Darien UL by PapaSmurf? It is lightweight and from the reviews, it is sweet!!!! What is your weight, because it has a weight limit on it of I think 200 lbs.

Maybe someone on the forum has a Blackbird with a lefty footbox with damaged bugnet and will sell it at a discounted price???? But will it hang the right way without the bugnet?? Will the pockets hold stuff? Maybe that's why it isn't offered that way??

Look at the wilderness logics night owl, light owl, snipe and but in a slings gear with knotty mod all these make a head or foot pouch/box/area and are bug net free

Hmmm, I have the WBBB 1.7 DL with right-side footbox but have no problem sleeping on my right side in it.

(Now that I know about the issue, I may have problems on my next hang.)

When people talk about the WBBB being left or right, are they talking about the zipper or the footbox? I seem to be able to turn either way in mine. Not the first time I have been weird.
If it moves, you can eat it. No promises you will think it tastes good.

shrineclown, I believe this is referring to the footbox over the ridgeline- does it kick left or right, rather than what side you lay on (though of course it changes which side means you're pointing out.

But yeah, you should be able to lay either way regardless of the footbox. Doesn't someone sleep with their head in the footbox? (Shug?)

I considered trying that....now I am surely going to give it a go! Thanks for the clarification.

I think shug sleeps lefty with his head up by the shelf. If I remember he uses the foot box as additional storage. His down sleeves I think.
