    Torso length wearable UQ

Well it finally quited down enough At JRB for some R&D. While most of our plans for 2009 are well along we decided to give the 1/4, 1/2, 2/3. 3/4 under quilt question a hard look.

JRB still believes the standard full length under quilt to be the simplest, most flexible and best all around answer for hammock insulation.

That said, we decide to make a Torso Length Wearable Under Quilt available as a limited offering. This quilt will not be added to our line of 18 quilts. This means that we do not intend to keep it in stock. We will probably only offer it in the last weeks of any year when production slack is available. You might consider this offering as a product test. We will build as many as are ordered in the next three weeks. Who knows, if there is more than a couple demands it may make it into our line, but certainly not for quite some time. So if you want a torso quilt, order it in the next couple of weeks.

The TLWUQ is a 2/3 length under quilt that will fit most HH and all of the top loaders. It is nominally 42x52 inches. It has 3/4 inch baffles and an average loft of 1.5 inches. Constructed of 1.1 rip stop nylon with DWR, and 800 pf goose down. It mounts to HH with a standard JRB UQ Suspension System, However it requires a third shock cord for top loaders (provided in an all inclusive modified JRB UQSS). All black, the TLWUQ weighs 12.8 oz

The TLWUQ readily converts to a parka length vest with near full length front zip...Those with JRB Sleeves, 5 oz, and JRB Hood, 2 oz, (separately available, if needed) may enjoy the synergy of JRB insulation system as a full down parka, for under 20 oz.

Very interesting. I think you'll sell more of these than you anticipate.

Looks cool. I do think you should keep these as a regular item. I agree that you'll most likely sell more than you expected. I like the color

Interesting indeed...Just when I thought I have one of everything. Will this fit someone who wears a size 50" coat? I agree, this may be more popular than you think.

    rstms,

without down compression 44/46 is about the limit..... But we do have one early prototype that is 4 inches longer, which should handle 50... Call in the AM to discuss its details.

Parka Base May Be The Best Part

Yep.... It is a really nice jacket....In fact, it is a parka... Big difference in comfort when the whole torso is warmly covered.

In winter the Parka set, at under 20 oz, is the best part of the TLWUQ. Concider that basic full zip fleece waist jacket weighs 22-24 oz depending on brand. The TLWUQ is two to four, or more times the coverage or warmth depending on how you value it.
