Hammock TV - Adventures With Turk - Episode 2

    Episode 2 Complete Nov 26/08
Couple of surprises with Episode 2. We had a good bit of footage shot for night hiking and stealth camping, but overall I was unhappy with the result and quality of a large portion of it. So we scrambled before the weather got any worse and put together episode 3, which now that it is done, makes much more sense for content as episode 2. This will likely (but not carved in stone) wrap up our packrafting theme for this season, and future episodes will feature new modes of travel.

Same as before, I will re-edit this first post as I complete editing and uploading of each part. the complete episode will be in 2 parts.

    hope you enjoy.

written and pictoral reviews for the hammock gear featured in this episode will be coming soon to the article section of HF, and to our home site at www.ehko.info

another great episode, cant wait for part two. Keep up the good work playing with all your gear! I really like the looks of the tarp, how does that compare to the JRB hut from episode one?

Great, another episode of Turks Hammock TV.
    After dinner relaxation

    Sandals with neoprene socks
Have you used that before, or was this the first time?

What kind of down booties did your buddy have, didn't get that.

Really enjoyed it, can't wait for the next part.

    Thanks

Do you use it much with your clark or mostly with your warbonnet? Would it be a true assumption that you could usually use a clark in non-to light rain/snow/wind conditions without the tarp due to the weather shield? I'm thinking it would be an excellent way to cut some weight. Here in az its usually pretty good weather and I'm thinking I could get on ok with this type of set up.

the trick to neoprene socks and sandals is to get them just a bit looser fitting than normal socks and shoes. I wore merino wool socks under my neoprene socks because wool I believe retains about 80% insulating value even soaking wet. Worked well as a system even in water temps at/near single digits (F).

Marks booties were the Mountain Equipment Co-op brand. M.E.C. - that might be one of the few canadian only outdoor retailers ?? not sure.

Both tarps have radically different designs. There are quite a few pros and cons to each design. For my article reviews i will focus on the strengths and limitations of each. ultimately it will come down to what features you are looking for / need in a fully enclosed tarp shelter.

turk, hats off for getting on the water in those conditions. what is the most technical whitewater you would feel comfortable with in that raft, with a regular amount of gear, in similar conditions?

not tried it with the Clark use it with Warbonnet all the time since I got it.

I would think that you could use the clark weathershield with out tarp for most of you conditions.
