I plan to backpack into one of the primitive areas of Enchanted Rock State Natural Area near Fredericksburg, TX.
Are the primitive sites good for hammocking? Or should I plan to take my ground tent?

Just was there last weekend myself. Yes, there are plenty of trees in the backcountry primitive areas. Lots of dead fall though.

Either by the lake are nice
I stayed at moss lake a month or two ago it was nice bit of a hike from water but not too bad. Dead tree= dead fall . They don't allow ground fires in the primitive camp area but stoves are ok if it's a weekend you may find late night partiers roaming the loop trail.
Pics please after you go. I'm thinking about a trip there myself in the next few months.

There was a stream of flowing water leading to moss lake that isn't always running that you could possibly filter from I'm not sure how the rangers feel about taking water out of moss lake. Otherwise it's about a mile each way to water. And stay away from the vernal pools they are a look but don't touch. You will hear coyotes at night so bag your food watch your pets. The bathrooms are not to bad on the primitive side.
