I dropped down Saturday to meet everyone and enjoy the campfire for a while. What a great day. Here are a few pics of the gathering.

And here are a few of the hammocks. There were plenty of trees to choose from!

This was a really intersting way to secure an amsteel suspension without making a whoopie sling

Here are some pics of the Mono Pole Stand

Here is the real mystery. I know this canteen was hanging there in 2010, Who, how and why is anybodies guess?

It may very become a national landmark!

    Looks like a great crowd

Looks like a great crowd - too bad I was tied up this weekend. Wish I could have been there.

Canteen in the tree. Old military trick for getting lines high up in a tree for an antenna. You can spin it right good and really launch it high up into a tree. The weight of the filled canteen will drag the line back down to the ground. Tie the end of the antenna to the line and haul it up into the tree.

Every once in a great while the canteen gets hung up and you can't get it down. I suspect someone knew the trick and was trying to get a high line up for a parachute or some other fly like cover.

I had a great time at my first group hang. Couldn't have spent the weekend with a better bunch of folks! Special thanks to all the camp chefs and to fluffythecat our designated pyromaniac!

Thanks Eaglej and Tallpaul for their patience as I turned from Hiknhanger to crampinhanger on the Dutchman's Creek trail. Whew! Anybody got a banana?

I really enjoyed my first hang. Great people and great food. I learned a lot of tricks. When I grow up I hope I am still in the woods like Bone Pile. Can'wait for the next trip. You guys got me thinking about a better design for the Porta-hang mono pole hanging system. Thanks to all who planned this trip lets do it again.
