and to get up to 6' of span with a moveable ring you need a little over 6'.
Right. So you're putting a fixed eye on one end for your larkshead attachment to the hammock, (or whatever method you use,) and the other end you just do a short back splice so you just need an extra foot or so to do your turns on the ring, run around your MSH and back through the ring. Something like that, right?

Production issues involving the union and the weatherman are impeding progress. Fortunately the script writers aren't on strike and can work inside...

    Well, what the heck.

I have amsteel and rings, chicken stew is in the slow cooker and it's been snowing and sleeting all day so I'm not going anywhere.

Guess I'll have to give this thing a go.

    What, my reluctance?

I've avoided this devilish design that I clearly don't need for as long as I can stand.

The other day I found myself absentmindedly trying this on a pencil with a piece of cordage that just happened to be there in front of me.

So since you guys won't stop inundating me with your relentless innovations, I give in and join in.

Grizz thanks for the confirmation. I think I'll be hanging some time in Jan so now I need to make up a set of lines and decide what to use, Knotty Not or ring or something else. Most likely I will choose two different methods just to see what I like better. Now for the hard choices. Do I use some new amsteel I have or do I dismantle one of my 12' dynaglide whoopies to make a pair of 10' SRS's. Reason they might be that much shorter is I will likely remove the section of line that has the original burry. I really don't need them that long but hey why not. :sly:

Did anyone try the Dutch Ti Ridgeline biner yet?

My UL brain has been thinking on how I can lighten this up, but yet still provide safety and security. I like using dynaglide, but its the hardware thats holding me up.

The biner helps to prevent losing it, I have also thought of inverting it----Larksheading the fixed end to the strap, then attach a continuous loop with a dutch whoopie hook to the hammock. To hang all you need to do is wrap your strap around the tree and feed the line though the other loop on the strap and then hook the adjustable loop to the whoopie hook, adjust and done.

And I thought I was the only one that sat at my computer desk playing with string. We need help.

I for one am thankful that I can play with string (or yarn in my case) at the computer desk - it's how I figure out all the knots that y'all talk about with such ease!
