Lesson for me is that the ring works great only so long as I can hang my hammock at or near the proper angle.
You say similar, so I wonder what you did differently? I tried making mine slip by trying all sorts of angles, even almost vertical but it wouldn't slip. I also connected around a beam beam and it never slipped. Three wraps is all it takes.

You guys are simultaneously making me angry and intrigued!

I spent all that time learning to make whoopie slings, getting them attached to my hammock, etc. And now it turns out there's yet a simpler way. I gotta hand it to you big brains with time to ponder.

Well, the heck with you all. I'm not going to get into this suspension method until there's Dutchware to buy. Then I'll be all over it.

Randy - The one open end of the clip allows the loops to unwind. Need something more like what meej62 drew up. Also, as I understand it the part of the rope with the windings needs to run from hammock to tree tree side. The straight section is the tail end that comes from the tree side.

Interested! As a bridge hanger, I want to switch to whoopies, but don't want to add the length of the bury..hmmm

    Cheers

Those completed circles look like more work than is needed to keep the cord from sliding off. From a manufacturing point of view, problematic.

Dutch will take a bit of Titanium rod, bend a hook at each end, call it the Dutch Crook, and sell it for $3.50. Coming soon to a Dutchware mall kiosk near you!
