Trooper and I hit the Palisades Creek Trail

My 9 yr old son earned a trail name this past weekend...Trooper. Thats cuz he hiked 10 miles with a full pack doing about 3.1 miles/hr. Not sure where he got all that energy. Our packs were kinda heavy to..we were carrying extra gear for cold weather.

It got down to the mid 20's and we both did really well in our Hammocks. He slept next to a nice warm Nalgean bottle....that really works well!!!

    Here is Trooper

This was us going in...4.5 miles to camp. The last mile we did in the dark with our headlamps. That was a first for Trooper.

I found two trees that were just perfectly spaced for us to be close to each other. No need for tarps.

We hung out in our hammocks a ton...

The next morning on we hiked around the lake

The lake had a thin layer of ice on it...so we threw rocks at it and broke it all up

The hike out gave us some great views of Palisades Creek

The only thing we hated about the whole trip....was when it ended

Thanks for sharing your adventure. Looks like a great trip. Is that a hammock sock next to your hammock? I see it in a lot of your pics but it's always pulled to the side.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!

Very nice! I have read that Palisades creek has some great fishing in it. Looks perfect for Tenkara. I really need to get back over to that side of the state, been to long. Really need to take the kiddos over to see the family ranch and fish over there.

Yup thats my Hammock Sock, if the weather calls for 30* or less I take it. I made it out of M50. It is super awesome, it weighs about 7oz but really makes a difference on sleeping temps. One thing it also does is block a lot of the wind, and that right there can really make a difference on staying warm or not.

We talked about Tenkara fishing while we were out. I agree, this place would have been perfect for it.

That time will stay with you for the rest of your life. I still remember me and my father going camping when I was 5 years old.

It looks like you two had a great time. Thanks for posting.
