Guys I need some opinions, I have this idea for a suspension but I need to know if this is going to work before I order some Amsteel. I love the single line suspensions but I want one more adjustable and I want to use as little line as possible so I came up with this, will it work?
- Start with the tree huggers, single loop sewn in the end, feed the other end in the loop pull tight.
- Add a toggle on the free end.
- Then I created (in my mind) a half whoopie, basically it is about 24 inched of Amsteel used to create a loop on one end (this goes on the Toggle) Then I take ridgeline and burry it in most of the half Whoopie.
- The Ridgeline is a single length of Amsteel, what I hope to accomplish is to have say 10 feet (5 on each side) for adjustability. To do this with a common Whoopie you would need 20+ feet of line (10 on each side).
- Create two continuous loops, use the loops to tie Prusik knots on the ridgeline, then Larks Head to the Hammock. Prusiks are adjustable.
- A 20’ length of Amsteel gives just less than a 20’ Adjustable Span.
Parts List
2- Treehuggers
2- Toggles
2- Half Whoopies (24” of Amsteel)
2- Continos loops (18” of Amsteel)
1- Ridge Line (about 20’ of Amsteel) Calc ulate this: Your custom Ridge Line Length plus whatever you want your adjustability to be.
My Major Questions:
- Will a Prusik hold on Amsteel? The small diameter might require multiple wraps.
- Is the holding power of the bury going to hold in this configuration, will it take more bury length?
