Hilo is that Friday night or Saturday morning.
JDA have you winter camped before? Layers for clothing and lots insulation for sleeping.
I'm thinking I'll make it out late Friday morning. Looking forward to it!

Sorry to say there might nor be any snow by Saturday. So my plan is to boil and strain (if needed) lake water.
Does anyone need directions to the parking area?

I think I've got it on google maps....but how obvious is the parking lot?

Its fairly obvious. There is a color map of the wilderness area at the trailhead. Also my truck will be parked there. Blue Ford w/ black ladder rack.
I hope there's snow... I want to try out the sled I bought for this trip
I hope so to, but its going to be in the mid 30's to 40 all week.
As of today I am still planning on making this hang. If there is enough snow to bring the sled, I have extra ice fishing gear I can bring along including 3 tip-ups, and 3 ice fishing poles. I have a relatively new hand auger and a scoop. Obviously I have a bit more than is needed for just one person. Would anyone going on this hang be interested in using any of my extra gear. I thought I would ask before hauling it all out there. It sounds like there is a lot of potential for good fish. Does anyone want to bring some minnows?
